VIDEO: Core Plus Aerospace Featured on AWSP TV

We are thrilled to share an interview about Core Plus Aerospace, published by the Association of Washington School Principals (AWSP)! In the first segment, Scott Seaman, Executive Director of AWSP, visits with Hkwau’a’Que’Jol ’Q’ Hollins, principal of Lindbergh High School in Renton. Principal Hollins shares a moving story about the father of a Core Plus Aerospace student who was nearly brought to tears because of the impact the curriculum had on his son.

At 10:20, Seaman brings on John Turner, workforce development manager at The Boeing Company. Turner describes the origin of Core Plus Aerospace and why Boeing has invested so heavily in this curriculum. “Washington has almost 300,000 manufacturing jobs today, and a lot of those jobs are filled by people who are getting ready to retire,” said Turner. “We want to make sure that students who are interested in this type of opportunity down the road have the ability to take a program that sets them up for success.”

At 19:41, we meet Moyaak “MuMu” Chuol, a recent Core Plus Aerospace graduate from Lindbergh High School. MuMu, winner of the 2019 SkillsUSA WA Assembler Competition, describes what piqued his interest about Core Plus Aerospace and the skills he learned through the curriculum. “I love it…it gives me hope, purpose, something to strive towards, for sure.” MuMu was offered a job at Boeing and started working at the Renton plant in July.
