Nearly 200 students participating in Boeing’s summer manufacturing Student Development Programs joined a career exploration day at the Museum of Flight. Students from Boeing’s Core Plus Aerospace high school summer program as well as the Community and Technical College summer program explored many careers, resources and skill building programs.

They met professionals from different companies like Darigold, Sekisui Aerospace, and Janicki. They also had conversations with representatives from community and technical colleges and Boeing resource groups.

“The career fair showed me how big and how many opportunities there are in manufacturing,” said Sophia Myint, a 2023 Core Plus Aerospace summer intern and a participant in the 2024 summer Alumni Leaders Program. “I also learned about programs at community and technical colleges that I didn’t even know existed.”

Julie Lyderson, a Career Navigator at North Seattle College, talked with students about how community and technical colleges can help them plan their future. Julie said an event like this is a way for students to make informed decisions and dig into questions about a program’s curriculum and career outcomes.

Wes Allen, Director of Sno-Isle Tech Skills Center, added that the career fair is a great learning experience for students.

“Along with seeing the different career options they might have not considered, students learn practical skills like communication and have an opportunity to get comfortable talking to different people,” Allen said.A person showing a student a person a part of a machine.

Anthony Lopez, a systems engineer at The Boeing Company, was there to represent Boeing Familia, a resource group that helps share Hispanic and Latino perspectives at Boeing. He enjoyed talking with students about their career paths.

“These students are energetic and are go-getters,” Anthony said. “They have many options, and their curiosity and ambition will help them grow their careers wherever they go.”

Overall, the event was a great success, inspiring students and giving them opportunities to explore careers, network and plan their futures.
