Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center (Sno-Isle Tech) has provided a critical foundation for high school students exploring and pursuing careers in advanced manufacturing. Through the Core Plus Aerospace curriculum offered at Sno-Isle Tech, students gain hands-on, in-demand skills relevant to the needs of Snohomish County and beyond, including opportunities at companies like Boeing and ATS.
One of the key features of the Core Plus Aerospace classes offered at Sno-Isle Tech are their close ties to industry. The Core Plus Aerospace curriculum is designed by industry partners, ensuring students learn the skills employers seek. This hands-on approach, combined with instruction from teachers with industry experience, provides a powerful learning environment.
“What my teachers present to students is exactly what is needed to be successful as they come into that environment,” said Wes Allen, director at Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center. “The best part of the Core Plus Aerospace curriculum is that it’s set by our industry partners to be able to identify what they feel that the students need.”
Alongside the technical skills, the Core Plus Aerospace curriculum teaches students career-ready skills like professionalism, communication and teamwork and also provides opportunities for networking and engagement with industry professionals.

Zatieya Mitchell was a Core Plus Aerospace student at Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center where she took advantage of many opportunities to build her skills and explore a career in the manufacturing industry. Zatieya participated in the SkillsUSA Washington Manufacturing Assembler State Competition and the summer Student Development Program, hosted by Boeing.
“My Core Plus Aerospace instructor, Kareen Vincent has taught me so much about the industry and to keep evolving in my work,” said Zatieya. “Core Plus Aerospace helps high school students because it teaches them how to have a career in the manufacturing industry.”
Through programs like Core Plus Aerospace, Sno-Isle Tech prepares students for various paths, from direct entry into the workforce, to providing a strong foundation for those pursuing post-secondary education.
“I want to tell parents about Core Plus Aerospace is it’s an amazing opportunity for your student to be successful” Allen said.
