The Core Plus Aerospace community—students, educators, industry partners, families, and more—continues to build a strong foundation for Washington’s advanced manufacturing industry! We’re thrilled to share with you the growth and accomplishments achieved during the 2023-24 school year:

  • Expanding Reach: There is an increasing demand for students with advanced manufacturing skills. Currently over 3,500 students are enrolled in Core Plus Aerospace at more than 50 high schools and skills centers across Washington state. The Core Plus Aerospace curriculum will help these students be ready for the more than 256,700 jobs at the more than 7,000 manufacturing companies in Washington state.*
  • Building Skills after High School: More than 3,100 students are advancing their skills in 105 community and technical college programs that directly build upon their Core Plus Aerospace high school experience, creating clear pathways to advanced skills and higher-paying career opportunities.
  • Real-World Impact: We’re proud to celebrate that over 1,000 Core Plus Aerospace graduates have launched their careers at The Boeing Company since 2015 – as Assembler / Installers, Aircraft Structures Mechanics, apprentices, and more —  demonstrating the curriculum’s effectiveness in preparing students for in-demand careers.
  • Skill Development Experiences: Over 90 students participated in the 2024 Core Plus Aerospace summer Student Development Program hosted by Boeing. These students gained invaluable real-world, hands-on skills, explored diverse manufacturing career pathways, and built connections with Boeing professionals.
  • Investing in Students: OSPI awarded $900,000 in grants to 23 high schools and skills centers to further strengthen and expand Core Plus Aerospace. These funds can be used for consumable materials, professional development, new tools and equipment.

Core Plus Aerospace students have access to incredible opportunities in Washington state and across the globe. We are thrilled to be part of their journey.  We look forward to another year of students building their own futures!
